Every once in a while, we need to connect with ourselves. Otherwise we would be all over the place which then lead ourselves to chaos. When it comes to connecting with ourselves, introverts tend to do it more often than others. The reason is because they enjoy connecting with themselves, that is how they find solitude, something that came natural to them. Curious on how introverts connect with them-selves? Here are five things introverts do to connect with themselves.

#1 Art

Many people might not know this, but introverts have high creative side. Despite not liking to spread it, introverts have so many ideas in their head. Art is one of the ways for introverts to transfer their ideas and creativity into reality. From performing in theatre to playing musical instruments, from canvas painting, to learning ballet, being able to interact with art does help introverts to connect with their higher selves. However, it does not necessarily mean they always actively create art or they always become an ‘artist’, introverts simply love and enjoy arts. It can be shown by simple things like, visiting a museum, watching live theatre performance, or even listening to music. Introverts enjoy engaging with art because it helps them to connect with themselves.

#2 Go to the bookstore and read

There’s no secret that most introverts love to read. Getting lost in their books is actually one of the ways for them to reconnect with themselves. With reading, introverts able to absorb knowledge and stories without any noise surrounding them – this is what they need, to be able to listen without noise, which is what books are for. Unlike extroverts that prefer to watch than to read, introverts love reading, because it gives them the space they need to process and absorb things. And of course, with reading, comes books, and with books, comes bookstores. Something about bookstore energy does connect with introverts. As introverts love to read, being surrounded by books does give them satisfaction. Especially the fact that bookstores tend to be quite, it gives introverts the solitude they need while being surrounded by windows of the world.

#3 Write

It might not be a surprise that many writers are introverts. Introverts are good with writing because they have the creativity, ideas, and most importantly, the patient to write. Introverts are not only good with writing, but they also enjoy it. Maybe that is why they have the patient, which something that most extroverts struggle with. While getting out of the reality and diving into their writing, introverts able to active their creative side and use their imagination to create something new. Writing is also their escape portal because it gives them space to be alone while being able to expand their energy and create something new.  

#4 Travel alone

Who doesn’t love traveling? I mean not now because of the pandemic, but before – and soon after – the pandemic, traveling is the number one thing people look for to relax and charge their battery. Although people often busy looking for friends or family to travel with, introverts love to travel alone. Remember, introverts do not feel alone when they are alone, so even with traveling, they like to travel alone because it helps them to connect with themselves. Traveling alone does not make introverts feel lonely, the main reason is because they enjoy their own company. When you enjoy your own company, you can explore the world on your own.

#5 Hibernate alone in their home

Last but not least, hibernating alone in their home is one of the ways introverts love to do in order to connect with themselves. As many people aware of, introverts love being alone. One of the ways to be alone is just to stay at their home by themselves. Don’t get this wrong though, introverts love to go out and meet people, but after seeing many people, they need to be alone to re-charge. Unlike extroverts that needs to go out to re-charge, introverts need to be alone to charge their battery. Being at home, a place they’re familiar with, helps them to re-connect with themselves better. People often do not understand this, and quickly judge introvert’s personality as ‘lazy’ or ‘boring’, which is completely not true. It is a good quality to have to not need other people to re-charge or connect with ourselves.
