‘be wise today, so you don’t cry tomorrow’
Some people are just very passionate about things that they know exactly what they want to do with their life at a very young age. Well, if you’re not one of those, don’t worry honestly not everyone knows what they want to do even in their 40s. So, if you’re still young and just about to start college, it’s very normal for not knowing what you want to do with your life yet.
The only problem you’re facing right now is that you need to decide which one is the right course or degree for you to take. Well, if you’re not sure which course you’d like to study, honestly don’t worry! You’re definitely not alone. There are so many students that are not sure which course they want to study. Knowing that you’re not alone will make you feel less pressure, which often will help you to find the right course. If this makes you feel better then hang in there for a little while, I am about to share with you how to find the right university course in 4 easy steps!
#1 Think About Your Hobby
The easiest step on how to find the right course is to think about your hobby. What do you enjoy the most when there is no obligation? Do you enjoy reading, or writing, or playing football, or organizing your wardrobe, or playing with make-up, or playing basketball, or cooking, or baking cakes, etc? If you have many hobbies, then think about one that resonates with you the most. Then think about being able to get paid from doing your hobby, would you like that idea? If yes, then try to find a course that is related to your hobby. It does not have to be 100% related, it can be only 10%-25% related. For instance, if your hobby is to write then try to find a journalism-related course. If your hobby is to organize your wardrobe and make-up then try to find a fashion-related course. If your hobby is to read then find history, or politics, or even law-related course. Use your hobby as the foundation and you can start mapping out the right course for you from your hobby.
#2 Go Through Your School Reports
Another thing that can help to choose the right course is to go to your school reports. I KNOW, you’ll think I’m crazy as most of us don’t even care about our school reports, but honestly, this could help. Look at your school reports for the past few years and check which subject is your highest score. It could be more than one. What about your most favorite school subject and your least favorite? Think about whether your favorite subject matches your highest score (does not have to be the highest, maybe it’s average but it’s a good mark). Observing your score reports will help you to decide which course is the right one for you.
#3 If Money is NOT in The Way VS If Money is In The Way
Think about what you’d like to be if money is not in the way. Maybe you want to be a fashion designer, or maybe you want to create your own restaurant, maybe you want to be a singer. Think about whether studying courses that related to it is possible (I believe everything is possible so honestly just go for it!). But if it’s too extreme for you, or if you’re not sure what would you like to be, then think about money is in the way. Think about what you can do to easily earn money in the future. Maybe you want to be an accountant, stable job and stable income, with this you can choose to study accounting or economics. By thinking about what you’d like to do when money is in the way or not, will help you to find the right course.
#4 If You Can Change One Thing From The World, What Would It Be?
